Getting Started Making Fast Login
Basically there are only 3 basic steps to start making fast windows login. And all of this steps is done using the Start-Q Configurator, the program for configuring the Start-Q system. You can also use this program for managing your startup items (for those that you don't put in the queue).
1. Populate Your Startup Queue
You create your startup queue by adding your startup items into the queue provided by Start-Q. Do this by using Start-Q Config.
Upon running Start-Q Configurator you will get the main window like the following picture (note: the content will vary depends on your system's startup items and modification you may had done previously).

Picture 1. Start-Q Configurator main window
The main window mainly consists of two tables. Top table lists startup items found in your system, and the bottom table lists items in your startup queue. In this step your job is to move as much as items as possible from the top table into the bottom table. Usually you can simply move items from top table into the bottom, however there are times that you need to pay attention on the order of the items. Because sometimes there are dependency requirement that should be met before an item can run properly.
To start moving an item from the top to the bottom table you can do one of the following methods.
- Using mouse you can drag an item from the top table to the bottom
- Highlight an item in top table with arrow keys or mouse click, then press Enter key or select menu File - Edit
- Using mouse you can double click an item in the top table
By doing one of the above steps you will be presented by a dialog like in the following picture. If you don't get the full form like shown here, make sure you put a checkmark in the Queued checkbox.

Here you can specify the delay time before the item launched along with parameters of how the item should be launched.
2. Save Your Queue
After you done creating your startup queue, you need to save your queue. Otherwise it will be discarded and you will loose your queue. In the Start-Q Config after organizing your startup queue please make sure that the Save button is not enabled. When it's enabled then there is modification that has not been saved. You save the modification simply by click this Save button.
3. Activate Your Queue
The final step is to select the queue type to be used when launching the startup items. You have two options here. One option gives invisible queue without no possible interaction between you and the queue, and the other one offers you an interface to control the launching process.
Invisible queue consumes less resource than visible one, so theoretically it's the fastest among the two. However the speed difference maybe insignificant to you. However it offers stricter consistency for your environment and since it's run silently, it won't distract you from your work.
Visible queue offers you total control over the launching process. With it you can pause the launching process, skip an item, and you can even skip the rest of the queue. However the gui may distract you from your work since it shows animated progress bar during the launching process.
What's New?
Start-Q contains Trojan?
We assure you that it's just false positive from some anti virus. Article on this will follow.
